Senior Process Engineer, Carbon Conversions, Inc.

Job Purpose
The Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for operation and continuous improvement of a wet laid nonwoven line making products from chopped carbon fiber. The engineer will also support process improvements across all production lines in the plant including carbon fiber sizing and chopping operations, cured composite size reduction, and pyrolysis of composites to recover carbon fiber.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Primary responsibility for oversight, operation, maintenance, and improvement of a wet laid nonwoven line for fabricating carbon fiber product forms.
• Work closely with the R&D and Business Development Team to develop new products for existing and future customers.
• Understand manufacturing processes, and document as appropriate.
• Create and maintain process control systems for critical-to-quality process variables.
• Lead the continuous improvement process to reduce variation and meet customer requirements.
• Provide plant-wide support for continuous improvement and cost management efforts.
• Participate on and lead Quality (and other) teams as a resource to develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Support supplier quality improvement efforts and ensure alignment with plant requirements.
• Comply with practices and systems directed toward the pursuit of zero injuries, zero health risk, and zero environmental impact.
• Lead or support efforts to engineer new process designs and incorporate new processes into existing work systems.
• Work on and around large equipment including climbing stairs for inspection and operation





Experience
Individual should have five to fifteen years experience in nonwoven processing with direct knowledge of and experience with wet laid nonwoven manufacturing.

Requirements

• Wet-laid nonwovens production experience • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong interpersonal skills • Experience with quality management systems • Other nonwoven experience (e.g., calendering, air laid, carding, etc.), a plus. • Experience in statistical process control techniques and methods including use of MiniTab or similar software, a plus • Project management experience, a plus • Root cause failure analysis, C & E matrix, FMEA, and process mapping, a plus. BS/MS degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Paper, or Textile Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
