Fiber Technician

We are looking for someone who is capable of performing as a Fiber Technical; and also be  responsible for routine maintenance, repair of CATV distribution system; HSD system and for turn-on of new distribution system including fiber network and equipment. Also, maintain and troubleshoot the fiber network system and trunk system due to equipment and/or power failure.

 

              QUALIFICATIONS:

§  Must have System Maintenance experience.

§  Basic Fiber knowledge

§  Must be able to travel and stay overnight.

§  Valid driver’s license; satisfactory driving record.

 

                      OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

§  Must be able to travel to all locations in order to maintain fiber.

§  Maintain the fiber network in all systems including repairs and maintenance.

§  Maintain all fiber documentation and matrix information.

§  Responsible for keeping all fiber equipment calibrated and in good working condition, including all fiber vehicles.

§  Maintain fiber equipment in all Head ends and OTN sites.

§  Required to be “On Call” for fiber outages.

§  Will be responsible for assisting Technical Department as needed.

§  Perform any and all duties of personnel in the following positions – Installer, Installer Tech, Service Technician and System Technician descriptions (with respect to both CATV and HSD services).

§  Set Trunk levels, sets-up and changes out trunk amplifiers, calculates signal level losses in cable and equipment for trunk lines and distribution lines.

§  Install electronics and makes power connections.

§  Properly uses stores and maintains all test equipment used in system.

§  Conduct system test such as signal/noise, signal/hum, summation sweep, chart recording, return loss bridge, including monthly, semi-annual and annual tests.

§  Assume full responsibility for troubleshooting and repair of the coaxial and fiber distribution system. Prepares estimates for projects, providing bill of materials.

§  Assist and effects interface for required revisions to strand and design maps.

§  Climb pole with proper equipment (safety belt, safety strap and climbers) ladders or other structures as needed.  Lifts and carries loads up to 70lbs (including 28ft ladder); uses bucket truck when required (after receiving certification).  Works within limited confines, such as crawl spaces.

§  Other functions that may be assigned.

§  Maintain Fiber Optic Systems.

§  Perform daily CLI procedures.

§  Perform Basic Head-end knowledge and troubleshoot
