STATEMENT OF THE JOB: Outside advertising sales for Alaska Journal of Commerce, Alaskan Equipment Trader and Chugiak-Eagle River Star newspaper print and online publications. This is a performance based position integral to company profitability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

§ 3-5 years’ sales experience, preferably with in print and online media.

§ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

§ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

§ Team player who can work with sales and support staff to provide excellent customer service and attain company goals.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

§ New Business Development—Work with Advertising Director to increase sales revenue and profitability by developing and uncovering new advertisers, increasing revenue from existing advertisers, selling special sections and pre-print inserts. Attend related business, community and social functions. Assist in collections as needed.

§ Organization—Work with advertising director to develop daily, weekly and monthly sales plans to help achieve individual sales goals. Report to advertising director on a daily basis. Keep good records and complete required printed and electronic contracts, contact information, reports, etc., as required. Submit weekly sales forecasts and sales pacing reports and stay on top of revenue goals. Keep sales orders filed by run dates and check preliminary run-sheets to make sure everything is scheduled properly. Sign off on proofs for every product you have ads running in.

§ Communication—Develop written and/or electronic sales presentations and letters, as well as assisting in the development of promotional materials and sales collateral. Submit orders through using proper company protocol and communicate changes timely. Anything late or off rate card must be approved by management. Maintain a weekly 1 on 1 to discuss opportunities and concerns with Manager. Act as an ambassador for our company and look for ways to improve our image.

§ Leadership—Utilize knowledge and experience to build customer confidence and increase sales, revenue and profitability. Treat co-workers and customers with respect. Maintain a positive attitude and contribute ideas to help the company improve. Take initiative to get your work done and be willing to help team members to be successful.

§ Other duties and special projects as assigned by Advertising Director.
