Beginning today, local employers can connect to an audience of more than 33 million job seekers online through The Augusta Chronicle.
AugustaJobs.com has become AugustaHOTJobs.com as part of The Chronicle's partnership with Yahoo! HotJobs.
Yahoo! HotJobs provides advice on finding jobs and gives job seekers a place to upload their rèsumè and make contact with potential employers.
"HotJobs provides the best platform for connecting local job seekers with employers and recruiters," said Don Bailey, the president of The Chronicle. "The addition of Yahoo!'s product to our employment advertising solutions will expand companies' ability to find the right talent."
When employers place job advertisements in The Chronicle, they also can have the ads appear on Yahoo! HotJobs, increasing the local audience with the option of expanding to a national and international job market.
"One of the great things it's going to do for local advertisers is get our employers more exposure for the postings that are showing up," said Brad Painchaud, the online recruitment business developer with Morris DigitalWorks, which is owned by The Chronicle's parent company, Morris Communications Co.
He said the partnership allows employers to pursue active job seekers and those who already have jobs but might be interested in looking for new ones.
Morris Communications, which owns 26 other daily papers, joined a consortium of newspaper publishers from across the country to work with Yahoo! HotJobs, creating the largest grouping of newspapers working with an online job board.
For this consortium of newspapers, Yahoo! has built a new platform of recruitment tools.
"It will certainly propel Yahoo! HotJobs ahead of other online job recruiters," said Tony Bernados, the classified multimedia director at The Chronicle.
For employers, Yahoo! HotJobs offers high visibility for job openings and an extensive compilation of job seekers' information.
Companies looking for job candidates can reach users across the United States and in local markets.
